Shakib Al Hasan stays ahead of cricketers

With the quality of cricket the Bangladesh team has played so far, it is better to pull the trigger on cherished dreams. Asian Cup, tri-series not won on a big stage. Dreaming of the 62-point loss to Afghanistan in Brisbane threw me into a deep depression. As the time for Bangladesh’s World Cup game draws closer, the noise inside the chest increases. Bangladesh can question itself. Can Shakib Al Hasan smile once or twice over the remaining 16 million people in the country? Build a house with hope even in the midst of despair. I still believe that Bangladesh will win. Consulting coach Sreedharan Sreeram told the media on Thursday that he wants to win all five World Cup matches if possible. Sriram knows that is not a realistic thought. Therefore, he wants to proceed in a planned way during the game.

In my opinion, Bangladesh could have been stronger if the team had been restructured after the last T20 World Cup. This was not possible due to a lack of long term planning. Bangladesh is hanging by a thread of uncertainty because of the BCB. They could never make the right decision at the right time. Still, the team has been given a captain like the good Shakib de Mander, who keeps the players on their toes. He tries to keep the party away from all sorts of controversies. This is why cricketers are not allowed to face the media. The captain himself does not speak to the media. That’s Shakib’s warning from the experience of the T20 World Cup 2021. The versatile southpaw came back to the top and did a good job again.

Do not allow any inside party information to come out. Which was never possible before. Because former captains and senior cricketers used to leak inside information. A healthy environment has developed because the current team does not have that. I think it can have a positive impact on World Cup success.

Bangladesh T20 team is named as a new team. Everyone thinks that because Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah Riyadh and Mushfiqur Rahim are unavailable. The reality is that there is no “uncapped” player in the current T20 squad. Afif Hussain has experience of international cricket in one form or another. They competed with Mushfiq-Mahmudullah and made the World Cup squad. From this point of view, Bangladesh is not bad as a team. It seems to me that the problem is team management.

The trainer experimented a lot for an opening pair. Six opening pairs have played 9 Asian Cup matches at the World Cup warm-up matches. ‘Make Shift’ opener Mehdi Hasan played with Miraj and Sabbir Rahman. Sabbi was left out of the World Cup squad due to a series of failures. Soumya Sarkar was taken instead of Sabbir. Another change in the team is the pace bowling department. Shariful Islam was replaced by Mohammad Saifuddin.

Sriram was appointed as Asian Cup consultant coach. He started testing from there. This continued until the preparation matches for the World Cup. Usually, coaches check cricketers in a series. Former Head Coach Chandika Hathurusinghe, Steve Rhodes, Russell Dominguera also did the same. But Sriram surpasses everyone and carries out extreme experiments on the way to danger. The opening pair of Bangladesh could not be repaired so far. This is cause for concern. The coach cannot count on regular openers. Liton Kumar Das, the all-time leading flyhalf, also plays at number three. But no worries about the middle order. Only set hitters have a chance to hit.

The strong point of the Bangladesh T20 team is bowling. The rhythm bowling unit has been stagnating for several years. Australia’s conditions are also in favor of pace bowlers. With Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Shariful Islam, Ebadat Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman is in rhythm. They played solidly in the tri-nation series and prep games. Another good aspect of the bowling unit is that there are several versatile players in the team. Shakib Al Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Mehdi Hasan Miraz rotate. This makes it easier for skipper Shakib to change bowlers. Bangladesh’s problem is batting. I can’t score against good bowling. Although he scored 40 on the power play, he slipped in the middle overs. Slog overs are not crowded as there is a tendency to lose wickets. Coach Sriram worked on these areas. Let’s see how effective it can be in the World Cup game.

Batting coach Jamie Siddons told the media a few days ago that you don’t have to hit 180 to win games in Australia. Bangladesh can only win in bowling if they score 160 points. The qualifying matches prove it. With Bangladesh’s quality bowling lineup, it can be defended if the batsmen give a capital of 160 runs. The reality is that 160 runs don’t happen because the batsmen aren’t on pace. No one can play impact rounds except Liton or Shakib. Still, I am optimistic that Bangladesh will play well at the World Cup. Winning at least two matches will put a smile on the faces of the people of the country.

Bangladesh’s opponents in the Super Twelve have been finalized. Shakibra will play the Netherlands in Hobart on October 24. With the opponent being the Netherlands, there was a chance to start the tournament with a win. And who knows Bangladesh are a great team once they get up to speed early on. Later, Sydney can beat South Africa. Even in the midst of despair, I see a ray of hope. I want to chase the Bangladesh team from place to place with the dream of winning.
